About Me
Hello, My name is Kai Torrey, a UX Generalist and Visual Communications Designer who aspires to create meaningful and profound experiences through the lens of design.
My Design Journey
Growing up in a family of artists, I was exposed to the world of art and creative thinking from a young age. Beginning with a background in fine arts, I was exposed to the world of design during high school while enrolled in the school's art and design program known as DADA. Ever since, I have fallen in love with the world of design which has led me to explore its many branching avenues. My journey now continues at San Francisco State’s School of Design where I continue to increase my proficiency in thinking as a designer, literacy of various programs, and learning how to create not only elegant designs but impactful ones.
My Design Philosophy
Nothing great is ever completed on the first try. The three main pillars of my design philosophy are iteration, experimentation, and hard work. When tackling a project, viewing it from multiple angles, and experimenting throughout the process I find it to be vital in producing a final product that I not only feel most proud of but also best reflects me and my capabilities as a designer. By putting in my best efforts and continuing to experiment and iterate with my designs I often come to outcomes I would have never thought of in the beginning stages of the design process. These principles also play a role in my final design philosophy being hard work. No matter the task having a strong work ethic will always translate into powerful end products.
Passions and Interests Outside of the field of design
some of my interests include photography, fashion, and attending rock concerts. If I'm not behind my laptop, you will usually be able to find me either behind my camera or, in the front row of a music venue.
